I used to have a blog. For a long time in fact. It started almost 10 years ago. I called it vicdamone.net because the domain name made me laugh. And it was a lot easier to spell than muehleman.com or my other choice, whosyourdoppelganger.net (I might just go buy this domain name now).

Then a  couple of things happened.

First, my blog was hacked. Yes, it actually happened. Approximately 700 blog entries wiped away and replaced my Japanese porn. I’m not particularly interested in Japanese porn so I was displeased by this happening. For what its worth, had the porn been Canadian, well, we’d be talking about something entirely different right now.

So I started over. Round 2 led to another 200+ blog entries. Though the spirit wasn’t quite there. I tried, but then something else happened.

It was called “twitter” and “facebook”. These things robbed me of my desire to blog. Why write up a 400 word blog entry when I can communicate the banality of my life in 140 CHARACTERS or less! Are you kidding me! Boom! So I vacated my blog and moved into Twitter and Facebook full time.

And so it remained for a little over a year. But I wasn’t quite as creatively pleased with Twitter and Facebook. It was limiting. And easy. I needed a challenge. So I started thinking about bringing back the blog. The tipping point came when my mom started harassing me about not having a blog. And while I will be 33 years old this year, I still do what my mama tells me.

A few notes about this blog for those unaccustomed to my amazing writing style:

1. This is not my work blog nor does this have anything to do with the work me. See the disclaimer here
2. I decided to abandon vicdamone.net and try out a new domain. LazyEgo embodies what it is to be a blogger i think. We’re vain enough to think people want to read this crap. More on the lazy part in bullets #3 and #5 below.
3. My writing style — yeah, I don’t self edit very well. So you’ll see a million grammatical mistakes, misspellings, and with mobile blogging, entries that don’t make much sense. So you’ll have to get used to it.
4. I swear a lot. Sorry mom.
5. Unlike my last blog, this is on a real blogging platform. I wrote the blog system for vicdamone.net by hand. Which was cool when I was 24, had endless energy to code all night, and wanted everything to be just the way I wanted it to be. But now, eh, i’m lazy.

I think this brings to a close my very first blog entry on the new blog. I’ll be improving this thing over time including adding Facebook connect for commenting, stuff about books and music I’m into, and pictures of me harassing my dogs and wife. All in due time.
